Prince Bay Art Center will officially open on Sept. 30 in Shekou, Nanshan District, adding a new exhibition and cultural venue to Shenzhen’s waterfront.

Located in the Prince Bay area near the Sea World Culture and Arts Center (SWCAC) and managed by the institution, the new venue features professional galleries, multipurpose cultural spaces, and public activity areas. It is also equipped with temperature- and moisture-controlled storage facilities, along with other infrastructure for the examination and collection of artworks that meets international standards.

The opening exhibition will be the first major solo exhibition in China by an internationally prominent artist, whose identity and exhibition details have yet to be announced. The show will span painting, installation and multimedia art.

Beyond exhibitions, the center plans to host public art projects including lectures, forums, film screenings, performances and workshops. It will also develop community programs and collaborations connecting contemporary art with design, architecture, technology, music, fashion and film.

The center builds on the nearby Sea World Culture and Arts Center’s work in exhibitions and cultural programming. Together with the area’s expanding commercial and public spaces, it is expected to broaden the range of cultural activities available along the Shekou waterfront.
